A Charleston-native, Ellis shares how he launched his real estate career nearly seven years ago. Prior to this shift, he worked in the food service industry. His audacious career trajectory led him from a Traveling General Manager with Taco Bell to eventually becoming a Vice President of Bojangles. Ellis also served as Chairman of the Board at the Culinary Institute of Charleston, while teaching culinary classes. Eventually, inspired by his passion for healthy food, Ellis started Black Bean Co., a farm-to-table initiative providing local restaurants with fresh ingredients. He operated this business while managing five restaurants and farming 35 acres of land, from which he sourced his harvest.

Amidst his restaurant industry success, Ellis realized, “Customer service was my true passion.” His strong work ethic seamlessly translated over into the rigorous schedule of a budding real estate agent. Ellis shares how his career motivation includes “changing the way people view realtors.” He currently serves as a team leader at Carolina One, a high-energy, professional group dedicated to serving clients across the Greater Charleston Area. In addition to this, Ellis is the founder and partner of a transaction management company.

When asked what he likes about the field, Ellis says, “It’s all about creating the perfect process.” He approaches buying and selling with a client-first mentality, prioritizing a clear-cut consultation strategy process. Ellis’s transparent communication and unwavering patience, coupled with a natural affinity for customer service, allow him to continually deliver exemplary client experiences. He notes that his team’s strategy is to, “Create a vanilla process and then flavor it according to each individual client’s needs.” They go above and beyond traditional real estate offerings. Whether it is cross-country movers or the emergency HVAC guy, the team is attentive to client needs and strives to support every facet of home ownership.
Ellis notes how 70% of his personal business is repeat and referral clients, retaining 96% of his original clientele. His team has closed 65 units so far this year, and his transaction management team reported 1,350 transactions in 2021. Ellis says, “I truly enjoy the process and sharing/creating the 10+ experience for all involved.”

Charleston is Ellis’s primary real estate focus. A lifelong resident of the city, Ellis is keenly aware of the versatile offerings within the area. Outside of work, Ellis and his team regularly support Habitat for Humanity and serve the local military population. Ellis still enjoys farming and is currently a partner on an 18-acre plot of land. He can often be found fishing, spending time with friends, or trying out new restaurants around Charleston. His long-term professional goals include growing and learning as much as possible. He intends to steadily expand his team while continuing to double their annual volume.
