Lee Brewer’s career in real estate began with true passion for buying and selling real estate. As owner of one of Sarasota’s most acclaimed hair salons, and a Sarasota native, Lee never set out to make real estate a profession, nor did he imagine he’d one day be one of the area’s top REALTORS®. However, that’s exactly how things turned out for him.
Lee recalls, “In 1992, I started doing some personal investing in real estate. I loved my work in hair styling, but I was starting to feel like I’d maxed out. I’d traveled the country as an instructor for Goldwell, and felt I’d done all I could do. As time went on I found myself drifting further from the salon in order to play with my properties. I was fixing them and flipping them. I felt like I was sitting on a dock of a beautiful pond with just my feet in the water, but I really wanted to dive in and swim. I kept asking myself: Are you going to be a hairdresser or an investor?”
Fate seemed to have intervened and showed Lee his path. “A friend of mine was terminally ill. He was very wealthy and wanted to make sure his widow would have income earning investments. He came to me to help. All told we bought 58 rental properties, and his widow was secure for life,” Lee says.
With that Lee was all in, and wasted no time carving a name for himself in the competitive Florida real estate market. Having years of experience styling thousands of clients in his salon, Lee had developed incredible patience, listening skills, and a knack for adapting to all types of personalities. Needless to say, those finely honed skills translated remarkably well into working with buyers and sellers.
Furthermore, Lee had developed and maintained a computerized database of clients long before they became the norm, so he was armed with an incredible pool of trusting clients when he made real estate not only his passion, but also his fulltime profession. “I put myself emotionally in every deal for my clients. I will absolutely bend over backwards for them. It doesn’t matter whether I’m helping them with a $20K deal or a $5 Million deal,” he says.
These days Lee is as busy as ever with a client base that is primarily comprised of sellers. However, he does work with buyers who are referred to him by past clients. “Their referral is testament that I’ve done a good job, and I will do anything for them,” he says. Not surprisingly, Lee’s clientele is a whopping 80% referral and repeat clients.
