Kevin L. Kellogg started his real estate career when he was only a teenager, offering his lawn-mowing services to a local property owner. At first, the property owner declined, but Kellogg, business-savvy at a young age, left a card with him anyway. And a few weeks later, he was employed. “Our friendship and professional relationship just grew from there,” he says. And it was here that Kellogg learned the lesson he would carry with him for the rest of his career: “If you take care of your people, they’ll take care of you.”
“I have rolled all that into everything I do: take care of people, treat them the way they need to be treated — with dignity and respect,” he says. “You never know what someone is going through.”
Kellogg has been an agent for the past decade, and has owned his own brokerage for the past three years after dreaming about it for some time. Finally, he took the plunge. “I came home just toying with [the idea], and that was when I made the decision that it was time to bring that dream to life and we created Logical Choice Realty Group.”
Today, Logical Choice, or LCRG for short, is a small team handling Lee, Collier, and Charlotte Counties in Southwest Florida. Kellogg himself handles the buys and sells for their investors, most of whom have grown into repeat clients. Today, LCRG has international as well as local investors. With far-flung relationships like these, Kellogg knows that his philosophy of excellent customer service, with an emphasis on reliability, honesty, trust, and “just good communication” is key.
Even something as simple, and comparatively low-tech, as a phone call can make a huge difference, Kellogg has found. “People just don’t return phone calls,” he says. “I can’t tell you how many sales we have gotten because [people say] ‘You’re the first agent to call me back. I’ve called half a dozen people and nobody returns my phone call.’” Kellogg puts it plainly: “I think answering the phone and doing what you say you’re going to do is the biggest part of being successful today.”
And he knows that taking good care of current tenants may very well lead to future buyers. Recently, LCRG helped restore a tenant’s credit so he could purchase a beautiful new $339,000 property in Lee County’s historical district through them. “One thing after the other fell in place, and we were able to put it together, and we’re thankful.” It’s also the little things that keep his customers coming back, like switching out locks for clients. “That’s being conscientious of their money, and it’s doing the right thing.” They’re also dedicated to looking out for their agents, as well; LCRG is in the planning stages of a project that will help agents create a steady monthly income.
Speaking of doing the right thing, LCRG also works closely with community organizations as a way to give back, which Kellogg says is his favorite part of both the job and of being a member of the community. “Kids and cats and dogs are people, too. They need someone to take care of them, and we’re thankful that we’re able to do that.” Thankfulness, Kellogg says, is the core of everything he and LCRG do. “I think the biggest thing that really makes a difference is being thankful. LCRG is a faith-based company and they give God all the Praise for their success and those who cross their path.”
