Prior to becoming a Realtor, Taryn Simental had a successful career in the banking industry, where she rose to become a branch manager in Sterling, Illinois. But when she and her husband moved to Colorado Springs in 2013, she took the opportunity to explore something new. After a Realtor she met took her on as a showing agent, Taryn learned the ropes quickly, and before long she joined that team full time. She became a Top Producer and ended up managing the sales team as the brokerage grew.
In 2020 she took the leap and began building her own brand with The Cutting Edge Realtors, serving clients in Colorado Springs and the surrounding area, including Fountain, Woodland Park, Monument and Peyton. The move has been a clear success. Despite the arrival of the pandemic, she closed 51 transactions in 2020, for sales of $21 million. Her husband got his license and joined her, and together they’ve closed 72 transactions year-to-date in 2021, for a sales volume of $35 million. Nearly 70 percent of that business comes from either referrals or repeat clients. That loyalty and growth are the rewards of a service ethic grounded on honesty, efficiency, flexibility, and fun!
“I want people’s real estate experience to be enjoyable,” says Taryn. “That starts with the kind of counsel we give our clients. I’m a big believer in the Golden Rule. I’m always honest and up front when giving advice, and I never urge anyone to do something I wouldn’t do myself. I’m also a stickler for systems and processes that ensure every detail is taken care of, so the client never has to worry.”
When it comes to her listings, Taryn helps her clients prepare their homes for the market by providing a staging consultation, cleaners, and professional photography, which includes videos and 3D tours. The latter is especially useful to military families relocating to the area, many of whom are purchasing homes without seeing them in person.
Taryn’s relationship with her clients doesn’t end at the closing table. She connects with past clients regularly through client events, pop-bys, or social media to stay up on what’s happening in their lives. She also sends them monthly fun coupons from local businesses, or birthday socks on their special day!
The health of her community has always been important to Taryn. Her most recent efforts have been with Angels of America’s Fallen, an organization local to Colorado Springs that funds extracurricular activities for children of first responders or military members who died in the line of duty. She’s also on the board for the local Humane Society, and sponsors a table at Fur Ball, their yearly community outreach event.
As for the future of her business, Taryn’s son will be joining the team soon, making it a true family affair. She looks forward to attracting other like-minded agents as well, and collaborating on innovations of process that lead to a better experience for the client. Her primary goal is to continue elevating the already excellent service for which she’s come to be known.
