Since 1980, Perry Pentiuk has been synonymous with superior market knowledge and unparalleled real estate expertise in gorgeous Leelanau County, Michigan. In fact, since 2012, top real estate agent in Michigan Perry Pentiuk has been Leelanau’s #1 Broker – having involvement in over 80% of all Leland Township, Lake Michigan property sales. Indeed, he is unequivocally the region’s most successful Realtor/Broker, setting records in 2014 for the largest Lake Michigan transaction in Leland over $3 million, Lake Leelanau sale over $2 million and handled the largest Leelanau County commercial transaction in 2012.

Yet you would never know from talking to Perry that he’s such a successful entrepreneur.  As founder and owner of Venture Properties, Perry is frankly one of the nicest people you could  meet. Armed with a terrific sense of humor and sincere passion for the region (that he has been fortunate to call home for 35 years) Perry is both a luxury homes specialist and a down-to-earth local resident.

“Leelanau is to Michigan what Sonoma and Marin County are to California. We have vineyards, incredible restaurants, crystal clear lakes, clean air and water, and a community of artisans.  The climate is ideal for growing a variety of grapes, fruits and hops. We have microbreweries popping up everywhere. It’s also a major destination for people from across the globe seeking a beautiful, quiet community with world-class amenities. It’s a very progressive area, with a lot happening,” he says.

Continuing, Perry adds, “Leelanau County’s ‘Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore’ has been voted the Most Beautiful Place in America in a recent Good Morning America poll. I have clients who have purchased acreage to plant a variety of organic grapes, hops and hard cider apples. As a matter of fact, this region is the ‘Cherry Capital of the World’. Another example is a couple from New York City who purchased a farm to raise goats and have created award-winning goat cheese. The quality of life here is simply ‘Pure Leelanau’ and amazing!”

Located just 25 minutes from vibrant Traverse City, with its regional hospital, historic downtown and Cherry Capital Airport also makes the area’s picturesque landscapes and lakes attractive to boating enthusiasts from as far as Brussels, Vienna and Maui. Direct flights to New York’s LaGuardia airport (during summer months), make the region even more accessible.

Perry says the reason for his tenured success can be traced to his faith in God, love of the region and a few inherent traits that work well with buyers and sellers. “Conversations with my grandmother about how she bought, repaired and sold properties encouraged me at a young age. It’s truly in my blood. I also get bored easily, so the fact that every day in real estate is different, and presents new challenges is a good fit for me. Being surrounded by breathtaking landscapes and wonderful people make it easy for me to live and do business here.”

Perry has done an amazing job of selling properties in Leelanau County, to say the least. “I started in real estate when interest rates were 18%, but I’ve had great clients through it all, dating back to 1980.” These days, Perry typically closes 40-50 transactions in a year, which gives him plenty of time to give his full attention to each buyer and seller.

As for when Perry isn’t busy introducing others to this beautiful region, he’s traveling with his wife Heidi of 35 years to some of his favorite vacation destinations such as Europe and California. You can also find Perry enjoying the hiking trails around Leelanau County, standup paddle boarding, or boating to the nearby islands in Lake Michigan.  “I’ve been really blessed to set sales records, meet fascinating people, and introduce them to this spectacular area.”
