Top real estate agent Lloyd Smith was drawn to this town in 2009 after resigning from his highly successful corporate career in the Bay Area. He decided to earn his real estate license, as he always had an interest in it. “I remember being 19 years old and wanting to be a real estate investor, I even bought a cassette tape course about it,” he explains. During his 26-year path in commercial construction, Lloyd honed the skills that he would later use as a real estate agent. As a project manager overseeing the design, production and installation of numerous corporate headquarters, he perfected his time management and organizational skills. Later, as Vice President of Project Management and Sales, he became an expert negotiator and communicator. These skills and more helped Lloyd establish himself as a trusted agent in the greater Fort Collins real estate market.
Today Lloyd devotes himself full-time to his clients, staying by their side throughout their buying and selling journeys. Much of his business derives from repeats and referrals, as he focuses on building lasting relationships with those he serves. In fact, Lloyd turned off all of his advertising in 2020, wanting to devote his time and energy towards the connections he already established. “We expected business to take a dip because of that, but it actually worked out great,” he says. “The subsequent year was my second best year ever.” Though some of Lloyd’s clients still find him online, as he has hundreds of 5-star reviews on Google and Zillow, the majority discover him through friends and family members that have worked with him. “I just take care of my clients,” he explains. “Their needs always come first.”
Guiding them every step of the way, Lloyd leaves no questions unanswered. He’s patient and never pressures them to make decisions. Instead he educates them so they can feel confident in their choices. For his sellers, he advertises through all the top real estate websites and social media. He also purchases a domain name for each property, which comes in handy for marketing materials. “We offer excellent photography, 3D Matterport tours, and a professionally edited video, no matter the price point of the property.” In addition, Lloyd provides professional staging for each home. “We want our sellers to get the most amount of money in the shortest amount of time, with the least amount of hassle.”
When Lloyd isn’t working, he’s staying active in his community through his church, or enjoying everything his state has to offer. He and his family love to hike, fish and go off-roading. Lloyd and his daughter Cherie are currently working on summiting several of Colorado’s 58 peaks above 14,000 feet in elevation – known as ‘14ers.’ He and his wife Deana also take Deana’s Jeep out to the exciting trails in both Colorado and Utah. During their downtime, they love to relax together with their two sons, daughter and grandchildren.
