Top Agent Kim Eichorn cites encouragement from mom as her reason for pursuing a career in real estate. “My mom had been a REALTOR® in Davis for years” she explains. “At the time I was a stay-at-home mom, and she encouraged me to take my test and get my license as a way to get out of the house,” she says. Kim started as her mom’s assistant, doing open houses and managing a few rental properties. But she didn’t pursue a full-time real estate career until 2003, when a number of significant events aligned. “I was facing a new life as a single mom and my mom needed to retire, so it was the perfect time for me to take over her business.”

Now top real estate agent in California Kim Eichorn is one of Davis, California’s most successful agents. She credits much of her success to having learned the business slowly and thoroughly, without the pressure of needing to make immediate sales. “I think that’s why I enjoy it so much now; it has become my true passion,” she says. “I specialize in Davis because I really feel like I need to have a deep knowledge of the area in order to represent my clients effectively.”

Kim serves the area with a full range of residential real estate services, including investment properties. But there’s one area of the business she finds particularly rewarding. “I do quite a bit of divorce business,” she explains. “Having gone through that myself, I can empathize with  what clients are experiencing and help them transition into that next stage of their lives.”

A commitment to professional growth and a can-do, problem-solving approach has earned Kim the respect of both clients and other agents alike. “Other agents enjoy working with me,” she says. “If we see a problem, I look for the solution. I don’t believe in pointing fingers,” she continues. “I feel like I give my clients a bit of an edge because other agents like to work with me.”

She describes her communication style as being very direct, and shies away from describing herself as being in sales. “To me, that implies that I’m doing something for my benefit, whereas I prefer to help someone execute a transaction for their benefit,” she says. “I’m not driven by the money, I’m driven by the desire to help.”

Kim also has a unique way of thanking her clients. “I ask my clients to tell me their favorite local nonprofit or a cause they’re passionate about,” she says. “At the close of escrow, I donate $250 to the organization in their name.” But her community support doesn’t stop there. She also serves on the board of an organization that supports area residents with assistance to avoid homelessness, and is president-elect of the Yolo Association of REALTORS®, a position previously held by both her grandfather and her mother.

Because her roots are in Davis, she feels strongly tied to the community and is grateful for the opportunity to help people weather the wide range of life events that necessitate selling a home. “I’m able to help people weigh their options and make hard decisions,” she says. “Even in a happy sale, there’s always a lot of emotion involved.”

A self-described “morning bird,” Kim loves early morning spin classes and sessions with her personal trainer. But her favorite retreat from the hustle and bustle of daily life is spending time at her newly purchased cabin. “It was  a long-time goal of mine to purchase one,” she says. “It’s the one place I feel I can truly relax.”
