How did Turner Williams become one of the most trusted and reputable names in mortgage lending in Denver?

During the very beginning of the housing crisis, Turner graduated from the University of Georgia, with both an undergraduate degree and MBA in Real Estate and Finance, and quickly thereafter made his leap into the mortgage industry. From the start of his career as a broker, he was a natural leader, managing several branches up until 2012, when he made the second leap of his career… moving to Denver. Anyone who knows Turner would say he is about as personable as they come. Although he started on the capital market side of things, he “immediately missed working directly with people,” which led him to the path of full time origination, in the beginning of 2013. He is still pursuing the origination model today.

Turner is currently leading a team of thirteen loan officers and operational staff members at Spire Financial, a Denver-based division of AmeriFirst Financial, where he is not only their fearless leader, but a teacher, mentor, and friend. When asked to describe Turner in a few words, his team said things such as, “Turner has the answer to every question, literally, EVERY question,” “being able to listen to the way Turner does business has taught me how to grow my own in huge ways,” or “he will always make time to help us; our careers are just as important to him as his own, and we are basically one giant family.”

Spire Financial is local, and full service mortgage company. Spire’s offering includes a full range of products such as loans for community heroes; 0 percent down, no mortgage insurance loans; 5 and 10 percent down jumbos; doctor loans, and many others. Spire specializes in doing a full credit underwrite, prior to contract, with an assurance of $15,000 that the loan will close on time—for community heroes it’s an assurance of $20,000. To take it even further, he says, “if we don’t close their loan on time, we write them a check. I think it’s how business should be done. The expert level advice, and customized loans which are perfect for each client is the service that sets us apart from our competition.” An impressive 95% of his business comes from repeat clients and Realtor partners with whom he has built strong personal relationships. Turner has created a large group of raving fans, who are confident that Turner and his team will provide multiple options to fit their needs, as well as a thorough explanation of cost benefit analysis, with above and beyond service. When the team isn’t helping someone with their current mortgage scenarios, they are hosting fun appreciation events such as family friendly Bronco tailgates, movie pre-screenings, or Rockies Opening Day parties. On the continuing education front, you

can always catch him hosting classes- anything from Condo Disclosures, to the ins and outs of AirBnB, to Strategic Financing.

“We consider it to be an advice industry, not a sales industry,” he says, “which is why we have found success.” Continuing, he says, “Sales come from good advice. My favorite part of the job is helping people—from loan officers to Realtors to the clients themselves—to better understand the mortgage process.” To give back to the community, Williams and Spire have hired two members of the Global Down Syndrome Network, a nonprofit helping people living with Down Syndrome, to work as

“Happiness Ambassadors” and help with tasks around the office. Last fall, his team organized a Coat

Drive for the Denver Rescue Mission, collecting 600 coats for the community. This Spring, Turner and his team participated in Builders for Babies, a drive to provide diapers to underserved families.

In his cherished free time, he enjoys spending time with his wonderful wife and two young boys, who are always on the move. He still makes time for quick trips or a few holes on the golf course. His future career goal is to grow his team until they are helping 100 families a month, which isn’t very far-fetched, due to his dedication to his clients and his community.
