“I give my grandfather credit,” Angie Jahr says of her start in real estate. “He was a lifelong carpenter and builder, and he put a hammer in my hand when I was five years old. I’ve always loved real estate.” After a twenty-year career as a professor, and now married to a builder herself, Angie finally followed in her grandfather’s footsteps when she decided to become an agent. Since then, she has swiftly built a reputation for her enthusiastic service, creative problem-solving, and personal touch.
Today, Angie serves clients as head of a team of three, under the banner of eXp Realty. There, she serves clients across the southern Minnesota region, particularly within a thirty-mile radius of Mankota. What’s more, Angie has built a business largely driven by repeat and referral clientele who rely upon her seasoned eye and communicative style. As a professor, Angie’s focus was in communication, and she brings a similar educational approach to her work alongside buyers and sellers. “Real estate isn’t a job to me, it’s a passion,” she says. “I love what I do, and I know the business and construction well. I also know what I don’t know, and I’m always willing to seek out the answers. I believe in educating myself, as well as my clients.”
Likewise, Angie focuses on the interpersonal component at the heart of every home bought or sold. “Real estate is all about relationships,” she says. “The relationships are key—and not just with your clients, but with other agents, lenders, appraisers, and inspectors. Oftentimes after a transaction, my clients and I often end up as friends. We see each other out in the community, and I get to be part of watching their family grow.”
When listing properties, Angie begins by consulting with clients over pre-market preparations that will maximize the sale of their home. “It’s never too early to get your realtor involved,” she says. “I visit with clients to help them get their home ready, so that it can appeal to others in the same way it once appealed to them.” From there, high-quality photography and distribution across the leading online listing platforms and social media outlets secures wide-ranging visibility to potential buyers.
Beyond the office, Angie gives backs to her community by supporting organizations such as Operation Sun and Relay for Life, as well as through practical efforts, like shoveling snow around the neighborhood or hosting Christmas tree giveaways. “We continue to build our commitment to the community,” she says. “We make sure we are continually involved and serving them any way we can.” In her free hours, she most enjoys time spent with her family, friends, and grandchildren.
As for het future, Angie intends to keep progress steady, with plans to mentor other up-and-coming agents. Finally, Angie considers what she loves most about her chosen field. “There’s so much I appreciate about real estate,” she says. “I love the people, the relationships, the excitement. I like being able to put all of the pieces of the puzzle together and let my clients enjoy the process.”
