Stacey began her career in real estate back in 2009, after a career in retail management at Macy’s. “We had just gotten through a rough holiday season and were barely into Valentines Day,” explains Stacey, “when the company began talking about Christmas hires again. It was overwhelming, and I ended up writing a letter of resignation.” Casting about for a new career path, she began working with a friend doing real estate appraisals. “I did appraisals for about five years, and then the market crashed.” As a single mom with two children, she needed to find a career that would support her family, so she decided to consolidate her appraisal skills with her customer service and management abilities and obtained her real estate license.
Since then, she has proven herself a savvy and conscientious real estate professional. Working solo but with exceptional support from Coldwell Banker, she has built a thriving business that is based nearly 85% on repeat clients and referrals from satisfied customers. The reason for this client loyalty, she believes, is her focus on clear and constant communication. “I always answer my phone,” she explains, “and I utilize Facebook messaging, texting, and all other means of communication that are used these days.” Honesty is a part of that communication. “I’m always 100% honest with my clients, even when it’s something they might not want to hear. I tell them that my job is not to help them buy or sell a house, it’s to protect them. I take that very seriously and I make sure that every step of the way, they’re taken care of.”
Stacey, who mentors up-and-coming agents in her company from their first listing through their first buyer sale, is proud of her listening skills during the often-convoluted transaction process. “I really listen to what my clients need,” she explains. Her support is unwavering, even when the process grows complicated. “I’ve heard from my clients that they feel I really stood up for them, and they they felt like their interests were really protected.”
