How did Lorri Hoffman become one of the most trusted names in the mortgage industry in North Carolina?
Lorri started in the mortgage industry over thirty years ago working for Republic Mortgage Insurance company. She eventually moved to the underwriting side of the business. In 2012, she followed her passion for helping people to achieve home ownership and began originating loans. She currently works as a senior loan officer at Movement Mortgage, where she leads an entire team that includes: four administrative staff members, a marketing expert, three loan officer assistants, and another full-time loan officer. Together, Lorri and her team offer a wide range of loan products, including first-time homebuyer loans, jumbo loans, specialty loans, and self-employment loans.
As a result of the excellent service Lorri provides, an impressive 100% of her business comes from referrals from past clients and realtor partners. What sets Lorri and her team apart from other lenders in her area? “It’s our service levels and our knowledge,” Lorri says. “I’ve been in the business a long time. I have an underwriting background and I understand packaging. We always try to look at each borrower individually and assess their goals.” Lorri and her team spend a lot of time with first-time homebuyers, educating them about each step of the process. For move-up buyers, Lorri ensures they are in the best possible program to meet their particular needs and guarantee their success for the long-term. With a combined 60 years of experience, Lorri and her team use their expertise to provide excellent service to both clients and real estate agent partners.
For Lorri, one of the most fulfilling parts of her work is maintaining lasting, long-term relationships with borrowers and referral partners. To keep in touch, Lorri and her team host appreciation events and concerts, send personal thank you notes, and touch base several times a year.
To create relationships with new realtor partners, Lorri meets them over coffee to discuss their focus, and talk about what she and her team have to offer. For follow-up, she sends emails detailing all the services and platforms her team provides, as well a bi-monthly newsletter of helpful information regarding marketing and mortgage rates.
What does Lorri love most about her job? “I’ve never met a stranger and I just really want to help people. My work is the way I help people—whether it be a first-time homebuyer or somebody getting their absolute dream home. My team members and I don’t mind the challenge of a difficult deal!” she says. To give back to the community where she lives and works, Lorri and her team support Pinky Swear, a local organization that helps the families of children affected by cancer. Lorri’s husband, Chris, is a builder who often works with underserved families to help them purchase a home. Movement Mortgage also donates generously to nonprofits in the area.
In her free time, Lorri enjoys spending time with her family, including her four children and her grandson. For the future, she plans to keep growing her team, and serve as many families as she can while continuing to maintain excellent service. “We want to always stay customer-focused,” she says. With her long record of dedication to her clients and her community, she’s sure to make that goal a reality!
